A serious problem has arisen in recent several years that more and more college students abandon study because of their taking part-time jobs, so quite a few people are opposed to part-time jobs. However, taking part-time jobs has at least three benefits for college studens in my eyes.
First, students can promote their study through part-time jobs. For instance, If a law student finds a part-time job in a law firm, his practice will enable him to better understand what he's learned from books. What's more, the part-time job can offer him opportunities to go beyond what he's been taught in class, and he'll learn something that doesn't exist in books but in practice.
Second, students can also accumulate work experiences through part-time jobs, which will benefit their future job-hunting. Actually, part-time jobs act as warm-up exercises for students to take full-time jobs after they graduate, and help them prepare for their future careers. In addition, as fresh blood in the society, graduated students are often unfavored in job-hunting markets for lack of practical work experiences. It's easier to find jobs for those who have accumulated experiences in part-time jobs.
Last but not the least, part-time jobs can partly relieve students' financial burden, especially those who are from poor families. College tution fees have greatly increased in the past ten years due to the new educational policy. Many students from poor families cannot afford college fees, and our bank system fail to loan college students as effectively as it does in developed countries, so taking part-time jobs becomes a way for them to meet their great expenses in campus lives.
It's an undenied fact that students break the balance between their jobs and studies, especially when they fall into conflict with each other. But I think students should spend their spare time taking part-time jobs. Only following this principle can they benefit from their part-time jobs.

I believe in our future
Honorable Judges, fellow students:
Good afternoon!
Recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. The college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. But will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? Will we be able to better the lives of others? Will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?
The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

A Scene to Remember Gu Qiubei
Shanghai International Studies University Advisor: Gong Longsheng
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today I would like to begin with a story.
There was once a physical therapist who traveled all the way from America to Africa to do a census about mountain gorillas.
These gorillas are a main attraction to tourists from all over the world; this put them severely under threat of poaching and being put into the zoo. She went there out of curiosity, but what she saw strengthened her determination to devote her whole life to fighting for those beautiful creatures. She witnessed a scene, a scene taking us to a place we never imaged we've ever been, where in the very depth of the African rainforest, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterflies, the mother gorillas cuddled their babies.
Yes, that's a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called
Gorillas in the Mist, based on a true story of Mrs. Dian Fossey, who spent most of bet lifetime in Rwanda to protect the ecoenvironment there until the very end of her life.
To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our ecoenvironment. Today, we live in a world of prosperity but still threatened by so many new problems. On the one hand, tourism, as one of the most promising industries in the 21st century, provides pe
ople with the great opportunity to see everything there is to see and to go any place there is to go去看看每一件值得看的事情, 去任何一个值得去(或可以去)的地方。
It has become a lifestyle for some people, and has turned out to be the driving force in GDP growth. It has the magic to turn a backward town into a wonderland(n. 奇境, 非常好的地方, 仙境) of prosperity. But on the other hand, many problems can occur---
natural scenes aren't natural anymore. Deforestation to heat lodges is devastating || 'dev?ste?t] v. 毁坏Nepal.
Oil spills from tourist boats are polluting Antarctica n. 南极洲. Tribal adj. 部落的; 种族的people are forsaking f?(r)'se?k]v. 放弃, 抛弃their native music
and dress to listen to U2 on Walkman and wear Nike and Reeboks. All these appalling[ap'pal·ling |adj. 骇人的, 可怕的`; 十分低劣的facts have brought us to the realization that we can no longer stand by站在旁边, 旁观; 与...合力; 帮助; 支持
and do nothing, because the very thought of it has been eroding(侵
蚀) our resources. Encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in the spotlight, which is why the United Nations has made 20xx the year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring to the world's attention the benefits of tourism, but also its capacity to destroy our ecoenvironment.
Now every year, many local ecoenvironmental protection organizations an: receiving donations--big notes, small notes or even coins--from housewives, plumbers(水管工人), ambulance drivers, salesmen, teachers, children and invalids(残疾人), Some of them can not afford to send the money but they do. These are the ones who drive the cabs, who nurse in hospitals, who are suffering from ecological damage in their neighborhood. Why? Because they care. Because they still want their Mother Nature back. Because they know it still belongs to them.
This kind of feeling that I have, ladies and gentlemen, is when it feels like it, smells like it, and looks like it, it's all coming from a scene to remember, a scene to recall and to cherish. The other night, as l saw the moon linger over the land and before it was sent into the invisible, my mind was filled with songs. I found myself humming softly, not to the music, but to some- thing else, someplace else. a place
remembered, a place untouched, a field of grass where no one seem to have been except the deer.
And all those unforgettable scenes strengthened the feeling that it's time for us to do something, for our own and our coming generation.
Once again, I have come to think of Mrs. Dian Fossey be- cause it's with her spirit, passion, courage and strong sense of our ecoenvironment that we are taking our next step into the world.
And no matter who we are, what we do and where we go, in our mind, there's always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it.
Thank you very much.

Keep Your Direction坚持你的方向
What would you do if you failed? Many people may choose to give up. However, the surest way to success is to keep your direction and stick to your goal.On your way to success, you must keep your direction. It is just like a lamp, guiding you in darkness and helping you overe obstacles on your way. Otherwise, you will easily get lost or hesitate to go ahead.
Direction means objectives. You can get nowhere without an objective in life. You can try to write your objective on paper and make some plans to achieve it. In this way,you will know how to arrange your time and to spend your time properly. And you should also have a belief that you are sure to succeed as long as you keep your direction all the time.

Who are we, the net generation
In the 90s of last century, a new thing began to take on the stage of people’s life and now it has played an irreplaceable role in every field. It is the Internet. At the same time, we were born. It is generally thought that we are the generation growing up with the Internet, called the net generation.
Some people say that we are the generation who live a most superior life and lack setbacks during growth. It is true that we don’t face the problems and that kind of hardship like our fathers do, but I don’t think it means we are leading an easier life. Inevitably, we are labeled by the era. It seems that everything we do is magnified, displayed under the public concern and always causes fierce debate. Most of us are the only child of the family, which contributes to our addiction to the Internet .When we feel lonely in the real world, we may turn to the virtual world for comfort. However, from all the programs like supergirl to various figures that attract our attention in some abnormal way, what does the Internet bring to usWho are weThat made even us ourselves a little confused.
Well, who are we, the net generation
First I’d like to say, we are what we do and what we concern. Our generation is living in a world of information explosion and we are lucky enough to experience this shift. Thanks to the Internet, we can enjoy online education, all forms of entertainment and find almost everything you name it with ease. Though the Internet benefits a lot in terms of convenience , it also brings about many problems on screening so much information. Junk mails and advertisements are everywhere, sometimes containing eroticism and violence. Recently , there’s a tendency that we are paying more and more attention to things that challenge the convention of society, like people who make ridiculous remarks to hype themselves or boys dressing like girls and girls acting like boys. People, especially our generation , seem to be a little crazy about these stuff. One of the reasons lies in their rebellion out of a certain age. Some simply want to place themselves in the centre of public concern by doing controversial things. Maybe that’s why sometimes we are called “the beat generation”.
Well, is that as far as we can getI don’t think so. Maybe we are going through some growing pains, but that’s necessary to be mature physically and mentally. Only did we overcome those obstacles in the way can we really know who we are and who we will be. Nor is the Internet without its merits. We see a much bigger world via the Internet,
which helps to widen our horizon and broaden our mind. Many youngsters are inspired to start their own career online and now they are successful in every field. Sometimes rebellion is not a bad thing, it’s a symbol of independent mind. Post 90s are full of adventure and curiosity. They are willing to accept the new and think different. Thinking outside the box is one of our characteristics. In fact, our generation has already proved ourselves a lot, by showing our young faces on sports fields, bestsellers’ covers, and even politics stages. We are making differences to this society , you cannot fail to see our efforts.
After all, it is our generation that will take the responsibility to build the new world. Maybe we don’t need an exact definition of who we are, all we need to do is keep our dreams, never give up. There’s no limitation of youth. I believe we are young and energetic enough to make the best generation ever.

My teacher
Two secondary school teachers I remember show how different people can be though engaged in the same profession.
Mrs. Wang, my philosophy teacher, sent us to sleep less than ten minutes when she started talking in class. When a head nodded, she would point at the dozing student and made threatening remarks. She said that she was bored teaching us. Some students in her eyes had no desire to learn. But the other teacher Mr. Li always had bright eyes in a smiling face and encouraging words which showed that he loved Chinese history he was teaching and wanted us to love it too.
When it came to their attitudes to their students, they were different too. After Mrs. Wang finished her day’s lessens she felt that she had finished her job. Once when I asked her a question outside class about a term, she continued with preparation to leave and said that I could bring my question to class next week. Before I knew it she had put her keys into her handbag and walked out of the door. In the history class, however, a question even after the bell would still be given attention to by Mr. Li. He would rush to the board in a last minute attempt to clear up. Often he was seen with a number of students standing outside the classroom, discussing the day’s assignment.
Their methods of teaching were not like as well. Mrs. Wang stuck to the textbook and trained us how to memorize minute facts. However Mr. Li brought in films, maps, slides, tapes, anything that would help us learn. Once the whole class went to see the ’film Lin Zexu’ in order to better understand the history of the Opium War from 1840 to 1842.
Owing to these contrasts, I do not think I can forget either of my past teachers.
